Frequently Asked Questions
With any new therapy, it’s natural that you’ll have some questions. Here are answers to a few of the most common ones.
Who is Eligible?
Our treatment protocol is designed to help those suffering from treatment resistant mental health conditions, including depression, generalized anxiety disorder and trauma. Our trained multidisciplinary team will assess each person based on their individual needs and circumstances to determine how our program can best help and make recommendations accordingly.
Where do the Sessions Take Place?
Sessions take place at our clinic locations in a safe, comfortable and thoughtfully designed setting. Majik Minds currently operates in Victoria and Langley, with Toronto coming soon. As part of our care model, the setting is carefully prepared to support your experience.
Legality?
Majik Minds operates within the framework approved by Health Canada. Majik Minds has received its Dealer’s License for psilocybin cultivation, production and formulation, and our clinics see patients under the Special Access Program. We remain committed to a disciplined, compliant approach as the regulatory landscape evolves.
Are Services Covered?
Coverage varies depending on your individual circumstances and extended health benefits. Some components of treatment, such as therapy sessions and pharmacist reviews, may be eligible for coverage. Please contact our team to discuss your specific situation.
What is psychedelic-assisted therapy?
Psychedelic-assisted therapy is the intentional use of a psychedelic, such as psilocybin or ketamine, as a tool within a structured course of therapy. The medicine is never given on its own: it is paired with preparation beforehand (Set), a carefully prepared environment (Setting), and integration sessions afterwards that turn the experience into lasting change.
Which psychedelics does Majik Minds use?
Our example treatment protocol uses ketamine, given as a series of infusions alongside therapy sessions. Majik Minds also holds a Health Canada Dealer’s Licence for psilocybin cultivation, production and formulation, and our clinics see patients under the Special Access Program. Which medicine is appropriate is decided with you by our multidisciplinary team.
What happens before my first psychedelic session?
Preparation is the Set part of our model. A typical program begins with three therapy sessions of 45 to 60 minutes to establish your intentions and history. If you take medication, a pharmacist reviews it for interactions and may recommend a tapering schedule for drugs such as anti-depressants before treatment begins.
How long does a treatment program take?
Programs are individualized, so there is no single answer. As an illustration, our example protocol involves three preparation therapy sessions, two ketamine infusions per week for three weeks, a short integration session between each infusion, and a longer concluding session afterwards. Your care team then discusses whether further treatment or maintenance therapy would help.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
You can contact us directly to book a free consultation with our care team. We also work with doctors and therapists who would like to refer a patient, and our team will guide them through the referral process.
Is psilocybin legal in Canada?
Psilocybin is a controlled substance in Canada. It can be accessed lawfully in specific circumstances — for example through Health Canada’s Special Access Program, under which our clinics see patients, or through authorised research. Majik Minds holds a Health Canada Dealer’s Licence covering psilocybin cultivation, production and formulation.
Why does integration matter so much?
Integration is what turns a psychedelic experience into a durable change. It is where you process what you experienced, draw insight from it, and answer some of the questions raised during your preparation. Without integration, the experience tends to fade like a vivid dream rather than delivering the impact it was intended to have.
What is the Cost?
We offer individualized packages based on your particular needs, usually comprised of therapy sessions and at least two psychedelic experiences. After your first treatment session you may continue on a guided one-on-one basis or in a guided group setting. Prices are available upon request — please contact us for details.
